Raider Ramblings

Thank you for joining us for a late edition of Mr. Turney’s Raider Ramblings!

8th Grade Gift to MHR Students

Eighth Graders Kevin Curley, Quinn Doran, Haily Staidl, and Caitlin Terri developed and produced a “Raider Day” shirt for EVERY student at MHR.  Today this special group of students hand delivered these shirts to all Raiders and shared the following message:

Raider Day is a special day for every teacher and student in the MHR community –  it is a day to come together as Raiders in the name of teamwork and fun to celebrate the hard work of the year, the fun of summer, and the new grade title we are stepping into for the year ahead. This is a day that truly binds the school together.

As we depart, we are passing the baton to the new and upcoming 8th grade class. We leave these tees to each and every one of you as a symbol of commitment and pride for the MHR community. In this design you will see rings of various thickness and depth. The thin ones represent the quick and easy moments, the thick represent the hard, slow periods and the middle represents the memories made in between – each is equally important, for during each, we grow, we learn, and we improve.

Though this chapter at MHR is ending for the class of 2023, these tees will be a symbolic reminder of the memories created here. When you see someone wearing one out and about, give them a wave and smile because you will know, that is a fellow Raider!

Thank you to Lemolade for supporting this great project.  All students are encouraged to wear this shirt tomorrow for our “8th Grade Clap Out.”  The shirt will also be worn each day as part of the “Warm Weather Dress Code” for the remainder of the school year.

May 30 and June 1 – SmartBrain Baseline Assessment

Frank Markett and Maggie Massey from SmartBrain, our third party concussion protocol service, will be on site May 30 and June 1, to perform a baseline assessment on all rising 3rd through 8th grade students.  The assessment will consist of a balance and center of gravity check.  The results will provide our school valuable data and help us best manage our “Return to Learn,” protocol if a student sustains a concussion.  If you wish for your child not to participate, please contact the main office.  Further information will be sent home with your child Friday afternoon.

May 31 – 8th Grade Awards Night
