For those that may not be aware, each middle school student at MHR is enrolled in a Leadership strand of classes led by our very own, Mrs. Duffy, Ms. Scannell, and Mr. Turney. These classes aim to equip students with life skills and attributes that will allow them to thrive outside the classroom and lay a strong foundation for their future academic and professional experiences.

This March, we will celebrate the hard work of these students with Leaders Week, which will consist of a series of special events, including our St. Baldrick’s Day and MHR Plus day. The focus of this week is courage. MHR students are courageous, they have the mental and moral strength to withstand and persevere in times of difficulty. They can solve unique problems for themselves and others with creativity and open-mindedness.

Each day our students all walk through our doors as members of the MHR community, and carried with them on their backs (in addition to backpacks) is the strength and courage that is required to make MHR and our community a better place.  Designed by eighth graders Kevin, Haley, Quinn, and Caitlin, this tee symbolizes the various forms of courage displayed by our students and their ability to stand in solidarity with those young people with unique circumstances – in this case, those who are living with special needs and those fighting pediatric cancer.

From design to production, our students have partnered with Lemolade to bring these tees to life, and $10 from each tee purchased will be donated to two organizations near and dear to the community’s heart, Elim School and the Cornelia De Lange Foundation. This shirt may be worn each day during Leaders Week and spirit days as a symbol of the courageous students of MHR.

All tees will be available for pick up at school on Monday, March 6th. Please select the local pick-up option at checkout to ensure this. If you select shipping you may not receive the tee in time for leadership week.
