Did you know that over 40% of math questions on the Entrance Exam involve algebra, geometry or probability/statistics? While most high school math classes for 8th graders only cover algebra, our Advanced Integrated Math for 8th Graders covers all three of these subjects – putting your child in the best position for success on the exam, in high school and beyond!

St. Laurence is excited to once again offer Advanced Integrated Math for 8th Graders in the 2023-24 school year! This high school level class will challenge advanced math students and allow them to earn high school math credit at St. Laurence. Our integrated math program takes a global approach to teaching math and has many benefits for students.

MORE OPPORTUNITY

Student who take our Advanced Integrated Math for 8th Graders have the opportunity to begin high school in Integrated Math II (sophomore level math) and the potential to take more Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Dual Credit math courses.

MORE CONVENIENCE

Our class is taught virtually over Zoom by a St. Laurence teacher with extensive experience in eLearning. Held Monday-Friday from 7:05-7:45 a.m. beginning in August, most students are dismissed with enough time to get to their first period of school.

MORE REALISTIC

In the real world, problems do not come under a specific label of Algebra, Geometry, or Statistics/Probability. By using an “integrated” approach, students decide what skills to utilize to solve a particular problem, no matter the content area. Students use a combination of Algebra, Geometry, and Probability/Statistics skills to analyze and solve problems, which also helps them in standardized testing.

If you’re interested in taking the class, please fill out the interest form here. Please know that filling out the form does not commit you to the class. We will also need a copy of your most recent report card and a letter of recommendation from your 7th grade math teacher.
