Evergreen Park Curb Construction

Thank you to all students and parents for adapting during our curb construction.  We are proud to say that during the course of this three-week project, we experienced no major incidents of compromised safety.  A special recognition goes to our faculty and staff, the Village of Evergreen Park, and the construction company that worked diligently to develop a successful plan and animate it daily.

While our curb construction will be complete Friday, a second project to repave the streets around MHR will commence in the coming weeks.  In the coming weeks, we will continue to work with the Village of Evergreen Park to determine how this project will impact our operations and, if needed, create alternate procedures to ensure the safety of our students and families when arriving and departing school.

As we prepare for this second round of construction, we will maintain our soft entry procedures.  This means that the window for students to enter MHR will remain 7:50 – 8:10 am daily.  To ensure safety measures and proper supervision, we ask all to respect this time window and that students do not arrive at MHR prior to 7:50 am.

Thank you again for your support or, and partnership with, MHR.  We are extremely proud of all in our community for the grace in which we handled a potentially stressful change in routine.

Dress Code

Like many, MHR is impacted by supply chain issues.  Many of our uniform articles are on backorder at the moment.  As a result, we will extend our back to school dress code with a few minor adjustments.  Students are permitted to continue to wear their PE uniforms to school.  We acknowledge that weather is beginning to change to more seasonable temperatures.  With this in mind, students may also wear their MHR braided PE sweatpants in addition to any MHR branded outerwear (¼ zip, fleece, crew neck sweatshirt, and hoodie sweatshirt).  We will evaluate our dress code weekly and return to regular dress code when our uniform articles are back in stock.

Raider Act Cards

Beginning Monday, October 3, students have the opportunity to earn incentives by accruing Raider Act cards throughout the day.  A student can earn a Raider Act card for small, positive gestures that positively impact their peers and school.  A student may earn a Raider Act card for, but not limited to, the following gestures: holding the door for someone, cleaning up trash on the floor or surrounding area, asking someone if they need help, going out of their way to say hello, etc.  Students who earn a Raider Act card will choose a gift from our LRC’s “Raider Bucket.”  If you would like to donate any small tokens to our “Raider Bucket,” please bring them to our Main Office.  Please note that any snacks containing allergens can not be included in our bucket.  Thank you all in advance for contributing to this positive cause.

Fire Drill – Wednesday, October 5; 11:30 am

We will conduct a fire drill Wednesday, October 5 at 11:30 am.  We acknowledge that this drill is during our lunch/recess period and have intentionally scheduled it as such to simulate our response to an event when students are taking part in non-classroom activities.  We will adapt our lunch/recess schedule that day to ensure all students have the appropriate amount of time to eat lunch and attend recess.
